What is a Chromebook? And who is it for?
In these recent times, laptops and PC’s dominate the market as devices we use for a lot of things, like documenting, gaming, content creation, and watching movies and listening to music, there are even people who use it for drawing.
We can’t imagine our lives without it, it’s the first thing that I do every morning after I wake up is that I open my laptop, for me personally I use it for a lot of things, I use it to plan my life, my business’s that I want to start, I use it to maintain my budget, I use it to listen to music and watch movies although I hadn’t done that for a long time, and most importantly I use to study courses on a daily basis, and to write my articles and record my podcast episodes. So you see I can’t live without my laptop, I think my life depends entirely on it, although that is considered not a good thing, but I can use it to manage my life.
A lot of people are like me, they use their laptops or PC’s for different reasons, I have this friend who is a graphic designer she is a really good graphic designer, a few months back, I called her and she told me that her laptop caught a vires, and she lost her system, the good thing was that she didn’t lose her data, but it was really hard extracting that data in this situation, so her life just stopped as she works as a freelance graphic designer, and when her laptop stopped working she couldn’t continue her work as usual and of course that was really terrible.
So you see laptops or PC’s are a really huge part of our lives, we use it for our work, for writing, for managing our lives and other sort of things. In a prior article I stated that all laptops and PC’s are really similar in terms of the hardware, they all use displays, they use CPU’s with RAM’s and internal storages, they all use a keyboard and a mouse, but the thing that can differentiate these laptops and PC’s from one another is the software that runs on them, not the apps but the OS that is the core of the laptop or PC.
There are a lot of OS’s that are really popular in the world of computing, but the most famous one without a doubt is Windows. Windows is the most famous operating system in the world, it’s not the best actually, it’s not the safest, it’s also not the cheapest, but what made it really famous is that it’s pretty easy to use, and it’s considered straight forward, it’s also widely used in the world, which of course leads to a good directory of supported apps, as developers create apps always for the system that has the most users. After Windows comes macOS, macOS is the second most used OS in the world, it’s the best OS for people who create and edit media like pictures, videos and music, but it has one of the most annoying setbacks and that is the only way to experience this system is to enter Apple’s ECO system which means that you have to buy one of their computing devices and it’s one of the most expensive devices in the world, as the Macbook Air which is the cheapest laptop that they produce is priced at a $999, unlike Windows laptops which can be found for as low as $250 and Chromebooks which can be found for as low as $200, which is our subject for today. A Chromebook is a laptop that runs Chrome OS which is the 3rd most used OS in the world right now, they also can be found for the cheapest prices. The idea of a Chromebook is that it’s a laptop that is built around a browser, so the idea is that anything that you do in a browser on a laptop, you can just buy a Chromebook and do it on it. And I know maybe a lot of people won’t notice this, but generally there are a lot of people who use their PC’s or laptops for browsing the web only, and that’s fine as there are a lot of things that you can do only on a browser, so you don’t need to buy an expensive Macbook or a Windows laptop for only browsing the web, the Chromebook are much cheaper and could do the same, so this is the first answer to the question that is who is this for:
A Chromebook is the best option for someone who only browse the web
As I said a Chromebook is excellent for someone who only browse the web, you can use it to check your email, you can watch YouTube and Netflix on it, you can do some little documenting, and it can do that for hours, as Chromebooks are pretty known for their outstanding battery life, the most terrible one can go up for 7 hours, and that is excellent by regular laptops standards, and don’t underestimate the browser, as now you can pretty much do some little graphic designing on it, so they can do tons on the web browser, but that’s not all for the latest Chromebooks, as now they can support Android apps.
It’s excellent for someone who wants to experience Android apps on the laptop
Although not perfect, but Chromebooks pretty much now can support Android apps, and for someone who wants to try the apps on a bigger screen of a laptop, you can totally do that here on a Chromebook, and if you look at the Play Store it’s full of apps that can pretty much do a lot of things, apps like Lightroom which is one of Adobe package apps can be used on a Chromebook, other apps like video editors, although they can’t be compared to Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro but they can do a good temporary job, other apps like fitness apps and social media apps, they all can be found on the Play Store and can be downloaded and used pretty easily, and at a handful of price with lots of options to choose from.

One of the best things about Chromebooks that it comes pretty cheap, you can pick up a new one at only $200, it’s not going to be that power house, but it will do it’s job, it will download Android apps, it’ll surf the web, and it will do it for a long time with it’s great battery life. Not only that but a lot of Chromebooks comes in a 2 in 1 shape, meaning that they have touchscreens, which are perfect for some Android apps, as they were developed for the hand use, and it can be used in different orientations, as you can use it on a 360 to watch movies or draw on it or use it as a tablet, you can put it on a table and use it as a smart screen, or you can find my favorite, which is a tablet version, like the Lenovo Duet Chromebook, which is essentially a Chromebook tablet, that can be used with a keyboard case as a laptop, and the best part is that they all come in one package unlike some products (Cough*Apple*Cough), so you can buy this Chromebook tablet with a keyboard case inside the box, and use it as a regular tablet, or attach the case to it and use it as a regular laptop, and the most amazing part, that it’s priced at $189 which is a really good bargain.
